Exchange of the Day

While discussing International Artists, Ltd. v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue, 1970 WL 2243 in Tax Tuesday this conversation transpired:

Tax Prof: Liberace was a mediocre piano player with ornate costumes who later died of AIDS.

Friend: (whispering) Liberace died of AIDS, was he gay?

Elle Woods: (Normal Voice-but it came across pretty loud in lecture) LIBERACE WAS GAY? ARE YOU EVEN KIDDING ME WITH THAT QUESTION?

Friend: I can't believe you yelled that out.

Elle Woods: I didn't yell, I just said it at a normal voice when I should have been whispering...Besides, your question was ridiculous.
