So, what shoes would you wear with a silk and gold jacquard strapless dress? I don't really like gold so I don't want to buy gold shoes and I think silver might be boring. I'm wearing it to Barrister's Ball in Febuary but I just bought it and am very excited about it and want to buy shoes now!! I was thinking pale pink. What do you think?

I know you said to IM you but I'm a sad little 1L and I've banned myself from everything but email and blogs until the end of finals so I thought I'd leave you a comment and then I'd have an excuse to read blogs instead of studying. :)

Ok this is a tough one, and why I do not wear gold...As such I need a bit more information. Is the dress all gold, or is it silk (and what color silk) with gold accents/trim? If that is the case I would say try to find gold shoes and a gold bag, OR get shoes and a handbag that match the color of the silk.

I think silver would not be a good choice. If you have a link to the dress I could most likely be more helpful.

If you want to play it safe then I would go with black shoes and bag.

You'll notice how I'm stressing that the bag and shoes should match since I'm noticing a trend to not match then I it's really bothering me.

I hope this helps, and if it doesn't just give me more details or a link (I know finding a link technically isn't e-mail or blogs but think of it like an assignment) and I'll do my best.

Good luck with your first year semester of exams...It's all down hill from here!

Hi again! I posted on your blog earlier today about the gold dress and I tried to reply to your reply but for some reason it won't let me so if I ended up posting about 20 times I'm really sorry. I'm just oh so excited about my new dress! :)

I looked for a link to the dress but I bought it on sale at white house black market and I must have gotten the last one because it wasn't on the website anymore. But I looked around and I found a dress that's almost exactly the same. But at Neiman Marcus.com the Shoshanna Strapless Lace Dress is almost exactly the same, except that my dress is jacquard instead of lace.

I agree about shoes and purses not matching. It's kind of annoying. And I'm afraid that I'll have to get gold shoes but I'm trying to find a way around it. My dress is a rose-gold like the one I sent you which is why I was thinking pink-rose shoes might work. (That and the fact that pink is my favorite color so I try to wear it whenever possible.) :)

Ok this is a difficult dress, I had to call the Gay Husband in for assistance. While it's really cute I do have to say this is reminding me of why I always wear pink or black for events like this.

My first thought when I saw the dress you sent me was "Hmm, white would work" but I'm kinda assuming I thought that because of the lace so maybe not. Plus you have to wear it in February so white shoes is kinda breaking fashion rules, but I think it would be ok in tha instance.

My 2nd thought was that I was probably wrong about the white and DEF wrong about the Black (I was right about the silver not working though). I think black would be too much since I didn't realize it was a short dress and all the black would be showing.

So then I started thinking and I think your best option is a peach/salmon shoe. Preferably strappy if you don't live someplace snowy. I would clearly match the bag to the shoes but I would also see if you can find a shall to tie it all together.

As for makeup and whatnot I would try to go for a "fresh faced" look with a peachy blush. I would also get a nail polish that matches to tie it all together.
